Wire Brush Finish Most Kolbe wood windows and doors can be further enhanced by our wire brushed finish. Wire brushing creates a rugged texture and adds character – the perfect option to complement any rustic-styled home. Due to the nature of the finish, certain limitations apply. Swinging Screen Doors Swinging screen doors are available for field installation with Kolbe single and double inswing doors. Featuring an adjustable self-closing mechanism, double swinging screen doors have spring-loaded locking mechanisms on the head and sill of the passive door. Weatherstripping around the frame perimeter and on the astragal of double screen doors, and rubber door sweeps that meet the sill add energy efficiency. Swinging screen door frames are available in over 30 colors, plus custom colors.
Sterling Double Hung Retractable Insect Screen Kit A retractable insect screen kit is offered for Heritage Series Sterling and XL Sterling double hungs, for those who prefer an unobstructed view at times. Wood components that match the interior wood species and finish disguise the insect screen hardware, revealing only the beauty of the window. When you want to open your window and use the screen, operation is practically effortless. Simply press the pull bar down to the sill to engage the screen. A gentle push toward the exterior allows the screen to retract. BetterVue ® fiberglass screen mesh is used as standard for a clearer view; UltraVue ® fiberglass screen mesh is also available. Kit includes all components necessary for field installation on Sterling or XL Sterling double hung.

Window Opening Control Devices (WOCDs) Kolbe offers Window Opening Control Devices (WOCDs) that restrict the size of the open window area to less than 4 inches, and feature a limit release mechanism to allow for emergency escape. These devices allow the window to latch into place at a predetermined position and automatically re-latch when closed. The WOCDs meet the ASTMF2090-13 requirements. WOCDs can be factory applied to Heritage Series Sterling double hungs, XL Sterling double hungs, and Traditional double hungs, and are available in a Satin Nickel finish. WOCDs may also be field-applied to crank-out and push-out casements.
